“It was really eye opening to see people in my own age group leading workshops and addressing issues that were so relevant to our lives. The youth conference demonstrated that even students have the power to affect change in our community."
--2009 Youth Conference Participant

“I love that the workshops taught me a lot about topics we never talked about. I took away so much from the workshops I attended and I left feeling motivated to go out there and make some change happen."

YOUTH CONFERENCE HISTORY

The Youth Conference, first created in 2009, is a full day of workshops that aims to educate and empower high school youth. Workshops are designed to equip youth with knowledge that they would not be able to find in the common high school curriculum as well as the tools necessary to become leaders within their own communties. Workshop topics in the past have included women's empowerment, hip hop as a tool for social justice, and environmental justice. Since the first Youth Conference, we have grown immensely and this year, we have an all-time record of sixteen workshops to choose from!
